Commanding a prime position at the foot of the beach, the house sits on a linear site. Defined by expansive openings, the building’s deep open floor plan stretches the full length and width of the house maximising the dramatic ocean views.

The house is split over three levels and sunken into the hillside of the steeply sloping site to minimise its impact on the surrounding buildings. The open plan living space connects to an expansive terrace that reaches out seaward for a dramatic setting. The master bedroom is situated on the top floor with its own sheltered private balcony. Further bedrooms are located on the lower-ground floor with direct access onto the garden.

The ‘front’ door is located centrally in the heart of the house within a sunken courtyard that captures the southern sun and offers privacy from the neighbouring properties. The three storeys of the house are connected by a concrete ‘spine’ cantilevered staircase which acts as a centre piece to the building.

The paired-back material palette and minimal detailing of the interiors, combined with the frameless walls of glass, allow the focus to be on the views across to the horizon and the ever-changing natural hues of the surrounding environment.

The house is equipped with a combined system of PV / solar panels and an air source heat pump providing a source of renewable energy to the property.

“Design skills, attention to detail and commitment to quality can be clearly seen in the end result. By installing a great team ethos and managing the project smoothly throughout, Michael and his team have delivered a house that exceeds our high expectations.”
